Presentation Summary:  Avista Utilities is continuing its annual "Energy and the Economy" series with the return of Dan Kirschner, Executive Director of the Northwest Gas Association. Mr. Kirschner will discuss aspects of the national and regional energy resource mix, energy commodity pricing, sector trends and de-carbonization policies being considered by states and local jurisdictions across the west coast. He will address how today’s modernized energy sector sustains America’s economic vitality and fuels growth house hold to house hold and sector to sector. Mr. Kirschner will also discuss shifting consumer demand, political advocacy and policies being legislated in state capitols. While so many energy sector stakeholders spanning the traditional incumbents to technology disruption start-ups are creating new opportunities to transform a more than century old sector, there are an equal number of policy related threats that will create new financial burden on consumers. What is the right balance? Speaker Bio: As Executive Director of the NWGA, Kirschner works to foster understanding and informed decision-making on issues related to natural gas in the region. His duties include formulating and disseminating market intelligence, policy analysis and communicating the industry’s perspective. Prior to the NWGA, Kirschner worked in the Washington State Legislature, for U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and at the Spokane Regional Chamber of Commerce. He adds an MBA to his policy and public affairs experience giving him a unique perspective on the intersection of public policy and business imperatives. About the NWGA
